Every Thursday I take my 3rd Grade Students to the library.
I help them choose one book so that they can take it home for one week until the next Thursday.
The activity consists first of all in motivating them to Read.
The objective is not for them to know ALL the words, but for them to recognize words that they learn year by year and to start understanding the context as they learn, helped by the images from the books so that they can keep on building up knowledge.
Reading is also a nice way to practice pronunciation and sounds.
After reading the book, students work on a "book register" or "book file" on their notebooks to keep track of the books they read. They can also share their favorite part with their family, since they can read their favorite part at home.
Cada Jueves visitamos la biblioteca con los alumnos de 3er Año.
Los ayudo a elegir un libro, el cual llevan a casa durante una semana hasta el próximo Jueves.
La actividad consiste en motivarlos a leer.
El objetivo de la actividad no es enfocarse en cada palabra, sino que ellos puedan ir reconociendo palabras que han trabajado con los años. Tambien, entender por contexto lo que están leyendo, ayudados por las imágenes en los libros que les permite seguir construyendo el conocimiento.
Leer es una buena forma de practicar la pronunciación y los diferentes sonidos.
Luego de leer cada libro, los chicos realizan en sus cuadernos una "ficha de lectura" donde queda registrado el título leído y su parte favorita. A su vez, pueden compartir la lectura en casa con la familia.
